So I know I mentioned a while ago that a physical copy would be available soon of Mirror, but there’s been a couple unexpected delays in the process. One of these has been caused by some spacing issues that were introduced in the translation of my word document to the pdf file they use for printing (thus making it clear to me that it is actually important to glance through all the pages on the interior reviewer, even though it’s a painful process, unless you don’t mind the cost and time of waiting for multiple physical proofs). The other has been caused by my not following the cardinal rule of customer service my mom always taught me when I talked with CreateSpace last week: always get the name of the person you talk to and always make sure they’ve entered a record of the conversation.
Yep, you guessed it, I did neither, and they had no record of what I was talking about when I called again today to find out the source of the delay. If my mom were here, she’d be chuckling.
Anyway, this time I made sure to do both, and I’ve been told it’s now going to their interior review team so they can figure out what’s causing the spacing errors to be introduced in the switch from .doc to .pdf. Fun times! So, fingers crossed, this time it will actually be addressed and I’ll be able to announce the links for getting hard copies here soon.
Oh – and to those of you who came to the little congratulatory party for my book last weekend, thank you! It was a really fun time, and very exciting to be able to see my book being passed from hand to hand. It’s that whole egotistical frisson of excitement all authors get when they have people paying attention to their words ; )
